NSW: 75 per cent jump in insurance premiums in schools
SYDNEY, Jan 10 AAP - A failure by the NSW government to focus on increased school securityhas led to a massive hike in insurance premiums over two years, the state opposition saidtoday.
Taxpayers have been forced to pay nearly $44 million this financial year for schoolinsurance, a jump of nearly $19 million on the year before, according to figures fromthe auditor-general.
The "huge blow-out" in insurance costs meant the $9 million spent by the governmenton security was just not enough, opposition education spokeswoman Patricia Forsythe said.
