Fed: Fuel prices back on the agenda

CANBERRA, Jan 16 AAP - Petrol prices have come back to haunt the federal government
with motoring organisations saying rural Australians and holidaymakers were paying more
than they should at the pump.

Despite a strengthening Australian dollar and declining world oil prices, petrol prices
in New South Wales were more expensive in December in some areas than in November, the
NRMA said.

An NRMA survey of 40 cities and towns showed average prices increased in 29 per cent
of NSW towns in December while prices in Sydney had dropped by 0.1 cents a litre on …
